Just a quick reminder that Dance Camera West, Los Angeles’ screen-dance festival, and To the Sea: Dance Concerts at the Santa Monica Pier run through Sunday.
I made it to Friday’s (4/13) To the Sea performance and sitting at the end of the pier is a remarkable–and utterly unique–place to see a dance concert.

The lineup Friday included short pieces and strong performances in works by Jacob “Kujo” Lyons, Jacob Jonas The Company, Vincent Patterson (a powerful lament against gun violence) and Pilobolus (featuring the outstanding Krystal Butler, Benjamin Coalter and Nile Russell)

Jonas programs the concerts, which change each night. The 6:30 p.m. shows are free but reservations are required and I overheard they were overbooked on Friday; arrive early. Dance screenings include a range of films and styles. For more information on both click here.
